Lynton Carr was born on a tropical island in the South Pacific. Lynton’s mother is a native of New Zealand and father is a recorded music fan of Tongan decent. Both parents moved to Australia in the early eighties in pursuit of the “city” life. At the age of 8 Lynton began collecting 7” records regularly on shopping trips with his father and grandfather.Which he purchased with his collected pocket money. A pair of drum sticks also appeared around this time. Following years of the usual indoctrination that comes from listening to older musicians discuss and teach music Lynton finally broke away and purchased his first pair of Technics sl1200’s. Freedom is what followed next.
After enduring the usual tribulations that prevail in the early years of trying to “get paid” as a DJ. Lynton was lucky enough to meet Phillip Adams a choreographer recently returned from 10 years in New York working as a dancer. He wanted to start a company called Balletlab. New doors began to open. In the years since his innately cantankerous nature and “cut and dried” approach have also caused a few doors to be closed.Lynton however is still buying records, playing in nightclubs and producing soundtracks.
