As a creative channel for professionals & students, Everything in Between is a series of workshops, talks and collaborations between national and international creative thinkers. Created by 3 Deep Design the program is run over an intensive 13 week period and is delivered to designers wanting to challenge and extend their thinking, experiences and process.
Australia, like many countries, suffers from a lack of intellectual investment and involvement from industry professionals in the critique, development and shaping of design curricula. Furthermore the industry fails to address the growing need of students in particular to participate in and learn from, external and influential practitioners. In 1964, Swiss graphic designer Armin Hofmann acknowledged the growing distances between education and professional practice when he wrote that ’the less experimental work done by people engaged in the actual practice of a profession and intent on extracting from it as much material gain as they can, the more energy and careful thought must the schools devote to experiment and research’.
Everything in Between will present discussions and talks from some of the leading national and international creative thinkers in Graphic design, Architecture, Poetry, Fine Art, Photography, Film, Fashion and Digital Media. Each workshop and discussion is supported by a series of 12 creative briefs delivered to students over the course of the program and are shaped in such a way to promote and emphasise aspects of research, experiment, process and discovery. The series of professional workshops with International guests will further our commitment to the development of Australian design culture.
We have made an enormous effort to ensure that this, the first year of the program is as diverse, relevant and as challenging as it can be for all involved and we look forward to establishing a benchmark 2005 programme.
